I used to love art.
love it.
I used to be an Art History Major.
That's how much I loved it.

Nowa days, I never give myself the time to bask in the gloriousness of art.
until last night.

My apartment has a front room.
The walls are completely bare.
I can't stand this... it doesnt feel like home.

I searched for something to put on the wall.
Nothing was in a college student's budget.
Sooooo.... my good friend Kelli (see below) convinced me that I could paint something.
After seeing how cheap a canvas, some acrylic paint, glitter, paint brushes, scrapbook paper and stencils were... I grudgingly agreed.

I was very nervous, since I have been out of the game for over 2 years
But I went for it and....This is the masterpiece.
What do you think??

My not-so-crafty side

Two weekends ago I went up to the cabin to be met with, as my dad lovingly referred to it as, Sewing Class. Traci and Kellie were both sewing themselves an apron. Needless to say, I wanted to do something too. However, the problem is that I don't cook. There is really no need for me to have an apron. But, I have been dying to get a bag for my laptop for ages. I wanted something cute that would hold my cords, my laptop and maybe a few books if I needed. So we looked up fabric stores in Heber and came across this WAY cute little store in Midway. We made the trip down and, thanks in large part to my wonderfully talented sister Kellie we found some SUPER cute fabric. After many "How is this even considered fun"s and "I hate this so much!!"s and "ugh, I don't even care anymore!!"s It was finally done!! What do you think??Its a perfect fit!!

A VERY big thank you to my mom who is incredibly talented with a sewing machine and helped me tons with my first official sewing project.

I am now officially taking orders!!

Meet Gabrielle Jensen!
Surprisingly, Gaby is Ian's BIOLOGICAL sister. Bet you would have NEVER known with her blonde hair and blue eyes. Gaby has spent the last 3 years of her life dedicated to Alta High School, and let me just tell you how dedicated she is. Her GPA is a 3.964 (I think), she is Alta's Social Science Sterling Scholar, this year alone she took SEVEN AP classes, she was president of Key Club, was Salt Lake County's Junior Miss, was HEAVILY involved with her South Mountain Community Church, all while dealing with a douche of an EX-boyfriend (thank goodness hes EX), and sleeping at night.

Gaby and I have had a lot of talks over the last two years and I can honestly say that she is one of the sweetest people I know! I love that we can have a long conversation without awkward silences. I remember when I was stranded at their house on Christmas night and Gaby and I stayed up for HOURS talking about life, and love. Mostly love. I feel a special bond with Gaby that I have never felt with another boyfriends sister. I hope that one day I will be more to her than just her brother's girlfriend, because she is more to me than my boyfriend's sister. I look up to her in so many ways! She is so dedicated to everything she does, I wish I could say the same of myself!

Gaby, Ian and I are SO proud of you! Congratulations on your graduation, now the REAL fun begins. Your goal is to become a Pediatrician and I look forward to the day that my children will have the opportunity to go to a doctor they know and trust. I know Ian pretends he doesn't care sometimes, but believe me, if you knew what he says to me you would know otherwise.

What I have been up to

I know that I have been a crappy blogger. I realize I have a problem, I really do. I will try to fix this. There has been SO much that has happened in the last month! Holy cow, where do I even start??

School ended. THANK HEAVENS!! I am SO done with school. It kills me, until I get to do some Mutton Bustin' (see post below). I still hate it though. I'm thinking that maybe I'll take some time off, I know this doesnt sound like a good plan but it sure makes me happy right now. I have so much stuff I need to worry about, especially financially, that I have NO idea how spending $2500 on school PLUS housing, food, gas and so forth would even be possible right now. I fully understand that it is likely I won't go back if I quit now. I jsut have to promise myself I will. I WILL!!
I had to quit my job in Logan. I was SOOOOOOO sad!! I felt TERRIBLE! My bosses were seriously the NICEST people I have ever met. It would have made things a lot easier if they were jerks. dang. I wish they were like Stacey (no one gets that but me, don't feel bad). On the bright side, things are in works to work for Jake and Kristen again. this makes me happy. very!
Listen to this story. typical. Mom and Dad go out of town on the WORST possible week EVER!! I have to move home and I am NOT a light packer. therefore, 3 carloads later I am moved home. THANK YOU IAN! But that is NOT the "typical" part. Saturday May 2nd 2009 I get a call at about 2:00 pm from my adorable sister Steph asking if I had heard anything from my OTHER adorable sister Lynndi. I had not. APPARENTLY prego Lynndi had to go to the hospital because she was sick and have a fever. SIDE NOTE: Last time she had a fever like this, WHAMMO Princess Bree Bree was born. Lynndi needed a sitter for Bree for a "few hours" while they pumped her full of fluids and TRIED to stop the contractions. no such luck. LUCKILY I was home from school and was able to drop everything (nothing) and watch my sweet Bree Bree until Monday when my poor mother (who, if you know her, was FREAKING out at this point) got home. End result:

Wednesday May 6th I returned to a place that I shall forever remember as my second home. Disneyland. I wish it was my second home, I just can't afford to go that often but oh.how.i.love.it!! My mom and I went together. it was a BLAST!!! I daresay it was the BEST trip to Disneyland I have ever been on. and that is saying a lot, because I have been a lot!! You see, this was PERFECT timing for just the two of us to go. I know that my sisters all LIKE the happiest place on earth but my mom and I take it to the next level. we LOVE LOVE LOVE Disneyland. its a little ridiculous. We were right in there with the children, pushing our way to the front of lines, shopping in ALL the stores (I kid you not we hit EVERY store in both parks), and just enjoying the smell, noise, taste and feel of Disneyland. Thank you to my mother who spend so much time and money to make that trip so much fun! I wouldn't have wanted it ANY other way (I even LOVED the 1.5 mile walk home, at 11:00pm . . . in Anaheim)I LOVE WALL-E!!!

After Disneyland was MOTHERS DAY!! Oh how I was looking forward to Mothers Day. I cannot even begin to describe how I miss my brother. (WARNING: MAJOR CHEESINESS ABOUT TO ENSUE) I sometimes feel like a part of me is missing. I love him oh.so.much!!
After Mothers Day things calmed down a bit ( for me anyways, refer to Lynndi's blog for the real DRAMA involving Croup, Diverticulitis and the NICU) I think the next major thing for me was VEGAS!!! I had bought tickets for Ian for Valentines to Flight of the Conchords at the Hard Rock Hotel. We then decided that it would be in our best interest to attempt to sell them. You see, stupid me sometimes doesnt read the fine print and didn't realize that the seats were 11 seats apart. I guess no one else was stupid enough to buy tickets of such so the week of the concert we decided that we were gonna sell them and we should probably make arrangements. We stayed in Cedar City with Ian's Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Duncan. They are a BLAST!! They still act like they are our age and I LOVE it!! They LOVED having company and took us to Zion National Park (which I had never seen), out to dinner, gave us all sorts of advice for Vegas (some we didn't follow: story to be told), took us to see Ian's other uncles property (which is GORGEOUS) and also took us to a historical museum in Cedar. They are very generous people whom we love very much! Okay, so who would have thought that the Hoover Dam is as cool as it is? Anyone? Cause I didn't. Let me rewind a few years to a point in time that my family stopped at the Dam on our way home from somewhere (I think it was a family reunion, others think it was Cali but this doesnt change the story) and my father feels the need to get out at the Dam and see it. NO ONE but my dad and brother get out of the motor home. We were SO annoyed and just wanted to get home so we stayed inside. My poor dad, not only is he outnumbered but no one will even entertain him to look at the Dam. Now back to the present day, Ian and I did a new tour where we got to stick our hand out an air vent and take a picture. We both maintain that the air vent is the one Clark Griswald opens in Vegas Vacation. It was GREAT! We even got cool plastic hard hards that I wore around all day, no joke!!This is on the way to the Dam, Lake Mead is behind us.

So we stopped at In-N-Out. I didn't like it. Its overrated and Burgerz Exprezz is SOOO much better!! So is five guys. and Chili's mini big mouth bites (now those are DELISH!). After the dam is was ON TO VEGAS!! We went to The Fashion Show Mall and that was good time, but depressing because (as I mentioned earlier) finances are not at their best right now. We ate dinner at the food court there. That was a REALLY good decision. It was cheap and very good! We then headed to Circus Circus because Ian wanted to ride the roller coaster. It was SOOOO fun!!
The concert was at 9 so we got there at about that time. It was WAY funny! They are hilarious, and I love Jermaine!! After the concert, this is where we didnt take Bonnie and Duncans advice, we had to get out of the parking garage. See they told us to valet park but since I have no money and Ian is "frugal" we parked on the 7th floor of the garage. We waited 90 minutes to move. it was ridiculous. We left Vegas at 2 am (3 am our time) and headed back to cedar. It was a LONG day. We got back at 5:30 and CRASHED!! When we woke up Sunday morning we didnt even want to THINK about getting back into the car to drive home soooooo we stayed another night. Monday we came home. The trip was GREAT time!! Thanks Ian!!

Tuesday May 26th I got another sweet nephew!! Beckham Matthew Rollins was born at 11:37 pm (Steph was induced at 7:30 am) at a WHOPING 9 lbs 10.5 ounces!! He is chunker and I LOVE him. James is a swirmer and Beckham is a cuddler! It is so amazing to see the diefference in the two boys. They are only a few weeks apart and are cousins but they are SO different! Beck has olive skin, chunky, and lots of DARK hair while James is on the skinny side (this is probably because he was born 4 weeks early and was in the NICU. he is starting to fill out now), fair skinned, and blonde hair. I love them both very much though and it is so fun to have TWO babies to cuddle!! Now we just need another girl (I am now taking bets on who is next, Traci or Kellie. I say its a pretty close toss up!!). Anyways, here is Baby Beck:

I have recently discovered that I LOVE going home. I can find any excuse to drive home! Like right now i'm headed home to take a test at SLCC

I feel like I need an update, but I dont have anything to update!! School is still trekkin along and there is only 2 1/2 more weeks, I can't believe it!! I have been entertaining the thought of staying in Logan for the summer and havent quite given up hope (although I know its impossible). Last night was my last lamb watch and it was pretty uneventful!! We had one new lamb that didnt need and pulling, stripping or other help. All we had to do was clip the umbillical chord and dip it in iodine.
We were supposed to go to Wyoming this past Saturday to do a whole bunch of Breeding Soundness Exams (electro-ejaculations) however because of the weather it was cancelled. It has been rescheduled for Monday the 20 . . . not looking forward to it!!
I'm looking for a summer job at home so if anyone knows of anything let me know!!
Also, I need somewhere with at least 3 bedrooms to live next year with Mads and Kelli.
As always, I have more friends getting engaged that I thought was possible at one time, and the entire Utah Statesman was about weddings today. I just don't know why someone would do that to themself when they are still going through college! I can't even afford to support myself!
As usual, I still LOVE what I am majoring in, even if I smell all the time!
It doesnt matter how long I sleep at night, I am ALWAYS exhausted!! I think its the end of the semester, and I'm probably anemic because meat is too expensive!
Kelli and her new boyfriend are as cute as ever and it makes me miss my boyfriend constantly! Its not too hard until you have to live with someone who gets their boyfriend anytime she wants him . . . and I don't! Luckily, we're both staying home this summer :)
I think I should start taking stuff home, but I work a lot this week and can't go home for Easter . . . I'm pretty bummed!! I love being home with all the family, I told my mom that I could come home after work but then I wouldnt be home until 6:30 or 7 and then I would just have to turn around. We decided that I should stay here, and have Easter alone. Sad huh?
Whew I have a lot of studying for the upcoming finals, so I should do that!

Okay so I don't really know how this is gonna play out but we're gonna shoot for the stars.

I went to the MC Hammer concert and loved every second of him, I wanna be him when I grow up (minus the whole money sitch) However I don't have any good pics so keep watching Stephs blog for hers cause she got some KILLER ones!!

School is school. Midterms are over for everyone but me it seems. I am lucky enough to have an extremely hard Sheep midterm the DAY WE GET BACK FROM SPRING BREAK!!

Speak of that goodness, I have one more class before I'm officially a spring breaker. Still no plans, nor any money so I will be here working, and lamb watching.

I, for the first time, have questioned my major this last week. We had to castrate and dock the tails of the lambs. I hated it, every second! I got super emotional and may or may not have been choking back tears, including a cracky voice, while castrating. It was really bad and when I called my mom in the car I sobbed. It was awful!

Dear Kellie Marie,

Oh what to say, what to say? Wow, I cannot believe that I am the last one left. I don't know what I am going to do? I am so happy for you but a little sad for myself (because I'm a selfish person!). Oh Kellie, you have been waiting for your Prince Charming and then Lindsay walked (or rode his motorcycle) into your life and the rest is history. I will never forget these last few months that we have had together. I will never forget the sleepovers that were full of more laughing a giggling than grown women should admit to. I will never forget wedding dress shopping, and pretending like I knew what I was doing :) and I will most definitely never forget the sweet phone calls I would get a few days before I was supposed to come home for the weekend from you. You are always so excited to know when I am coming home and what my plans are for the weekend. I love that you gave me sTORI telling for my birthday and how we screamed and jumped up and down for seriously like 10 minutes! I have been so blessed with such amazing sisters and you have never fallen short of amazing! I feel like I have never given enough time to you and I can't explain myself in that matter however I can say
that I have so cherished the times that we have spent being the last two single sisters. After all we had to stick together! I remember when I was in high school and having a particularly rough time with boys (don't tell anyone I admitted it but that was my fault for picking the jerks!!) and you asked me to come spend the night in Provo with you and your roommates. I felt so grown up! We had so much fun! We put Kim and your mattresses in the front room and turned on a movie, but we were all too tired and by the time Devin got there I think we were all asleep! We went to Pudding on the Rice and out to dinner, it was so fun! You always let me tag around when your friends were around, remember when that boy that was your FHE husband came into town and we went bowling? It takes a lot to let your little sister (4 years youger) tag along! You are such a good older sister, which means you'll make an even better mother :) I hope Lindsay knows just how lucky he is to get you for all eternity! I used to borrow your clothes ALL the time and I know it drove you nuts, but you never really got mad at me, I just remember hearing "Karin, I don't care if you wear my clothes but just don't sleep in them!" but that is the only scolding I remember! I am so happy for you! This is so exciting, and I know that you and Lindsay will be very happy together, you two are perfect for each other!!
I love you very much and cannot wait to be standing front and center while you walk out of those temple doors with the biggest smile on your face

Where is PETA now??

Last semester I took a Horse Production Practices class where I learned the basics of horse care, nutrition and so forth. I was taking this class as the closing of the final American horse slaughterhouse was taking place. And I just want anyone who reads this to understand something. Before house bill 503 was passed 250,000 horses were being sent to American slaughterhouses where the meat and hides were then shipped to Europe and Asia where it is considered a delicacy. American slaughterhouses were under strict regulation regarding how the horses were to be killed. This bill was passed in 2008 which made it illegal to kill any horse for consumption of their meat. On the outside this may seem like a reasonable bill to those who are not educated, so let me educate you further. First of all lets think about this reasonably, If 250,00 horses were being slaughtered before this bill where are the the 250,000 horses now? Well there are a number of things that can happen to them. First, they can be shipped to Canada or Mexico where the slaughterhouses are still open, While Canada has some regulations Mexico does not. Mexican workers stab the horse in the back repeatedly until the horse dies. This is NOT the proper way to kill a horse, this will cause seemingly endless torture. Think about this, if you knew you had to die, would you rather be stabbed 70, 80, or 100 times in the back until you died, or would you rather be shot in the head guaranteeing instant death? Personally, I would want instant death. Another problem is that many believe their "unwanted" horse can easily be let loose in the wild and live a long healthy life. This cannot be more false. These horses are domesticated. These horses have been given their hay and protected from predators their whole life, what do you suppose will happen to them? They starve to death. There are refuges open, however they are above their limit as is. They absolutely cannot take anymore horses in. There are rehabilitation programs in place using horses (SL county jail uses such a program), but again they cannot take in anymore. What about auctions you say? The auction market is at an all time low right now, many instances people have abandoned their horse at the auction site. People simply cannot afford more horses. They don't have the means to support the horse, or they are just plain sick of it. PETA, how is this "humane"? please tell me because I am dying to know. So now I am forced to wonder, if PETA thought this was such a good idea, where are they now? They are most definitely NOT cleaning up the mess they have caused. It hurts me so much to know that these horses are suffering. Its ironic that those who were asking to stop the slaughters thought they would stop suffering when in truth they have caused more suffering on these horses than there ever has been.
Today I received an email from the Human Society of Utah saying that there is another bill being pushed through Congress that would stop the exporting of horses to Canada and Mexico. While I do not believe what Canada and Mexico are doing is humane, I am forced to choose the lesser of two evils. I would rather these horses die from a bullet, or (grudgingly) the knife than starve to death.

Now comes my plea, please people, PLEASE pass this information on. People are STILL not aware of the effects this has brought the industry. Together we can stop this foolishness, and hopefully reopen the American slaughterhouses.

a whole bunch of nothing

So I realize you are probably all sick of my stupid post but I have nothing to write about, therefore this will likely be a boring post!

A few weeks ago Kelli, my roomie, mentioned that she wanted to purchase the game Truth or Dare Jenga. Probably a week later we were at Wal-Mart getting a few things and we thought about it so we wondered over to the games to find the prize. There was no prize! There wasn't even a Jenga game, just the generic Jumbling Towers game. We were bummed!! Then Kelli had an amazing idea, lets buy the generic game (which blocks aren't the same size, weird) for 5 bucks and make our OWN truth or dare . . . so we did. We haven't found anyone to play it with but here are some example truth or dares:
- Smear peanut butter under one arm and jelly under the other. Then wipe off each with a piece of bread to make a sandwich. Now eat it.
- What is the one question you don't want ANYONE to ask you
- Eat a food item off the tongue of someone of the opposite gender
- Smell everyones breath in the room and describe the scent
- Rate everyone of the opposite gender on a scale of 1-10
- Your spouse has been mysteriously transformed into a wild animal and the only way to change him/her back is to mate with them. What animal would cause you the least amount of psychological problems.
- Go outside and sing a children's song at the top of your lungs
- Beg the person to your left to spank you

You know, just some funny things. We think we are really funny . . . I don't know if anyone else thinks so as well.

I guess I can say something else, I was on facebook the other day (stalking as usual) when I stumbled upon this group . . .
Its called "You Know You're in College When..." A lot of the things had to do with drinking and not remembering your weekends but there were some funny ones that are SO true for us in 25E such as:

High school started before 8am, but now anything before noon is considered “early.
Weekends start on Thursday. No... Wednesday.
Instead of falling asleep in class, you stay in bed.
Your underwear/sock supply dictates your laundry schedule.
Your trash is overflowing and your bank account isn’t
You wear the same jeans for 13 days without washing them.
Quarters are like gold.
You've traveled with bags of dirty clothes.
You pay $100 for a book you don't read once, return it four months later, and get $7.
It takes preparation... and 3 people... to take out your garbage. (see birthday post)
You start joining clubs because of the free food.
Visits home depend on how much money you have for gas.
You have no idea where your tuition money is going... technology fees? I think not.
Bicycles don't seem as lame as they did in high school. (SO true!!)
Most of your T.A.s are foreign...what's the deal?
Printers break down only when you desperately need them.
Going to the grocery at midnight is completely normal.
You've paid bills over $5... in coins.
A canceled class is almost as exciting as Christmas.
Taking a nap in the library is perfectly acceptable.
Your teachers swear in class and no one cares.
Christmas lights seem to be acceptable all year round.
You donate plasma even though you know it's pretty sketchy.
There's always a "question kid" in at least one of your classes, and you really wish someone would just tell him/her to shut the hell up (I LOVE THIS ONE!!!)
Laundry is an all-day event. (which was today!)
You've eaten cereal out of a cup... with a fork.
You run out of black ink and, instead of buying a new ink cartridge, decide blue is a nice substitute... adds a little flair
The food in your fridge may or may not be older than your little brother.
You attend insanely boring seminars because your professor offers extra credit. Hmm, maybe there will even be cookies or something...
You find alternate routes to class in order to avoid annoying organization booths and/or the preacher on campus.
You finish reading this and wonder how you can procrastinate next.

I this so impossibly funny . . . in fact I laughed just re-reading it. I can honestly say that I have done, or thought about nearly EVERY one of the things on here. I think its more funny to me then anyone else . . . sorry!

Um . . . what else? Kelli had a date yesterday with my horse friend Dave. That was apparently a good time!
My first Biology test of the semester is on Friday . . . wish me luck. Please??
I kinda got a job . . . a small unreliable job. I dog sit for my professor when she goes out of town. That should be fun!

I think that is all for now. Now you all can get off my case.
